What are Small Groups? Small Groups are groups of people who meet regularly to grow together toward spiritual maturity, or to serve others in various ways. Small Groups strengthen the “fabric” of our church family. Sharing together regularly builds a caring community in which God and His Holy Spirit work through the lives of people.
Small Groups consist of Spiritual Growth Groups (including Care Groups, Bible Studies, Specialty Studies, and Account-ability Groups), and Service Ministry Groups (including Music Ministry, JOY Circle, the Stitches Ministry, Mission Committee, and Auto Ministry).
What takes place during a Spiritual Growth Group? Spiritual Growth Groups meet weekly or bi-weekly. Many of our groups take time off in the summer and resume meeting in September.
Our structured Spiritual Growth time is focused around the Bible. We want every person to learn more about how to apply the truths of the Bible to their lives. The Spiritual Growth Group setting helps us to explore God's Word in a personal way.
Another benefit of a Spiritual Growth Groups is that it provides an opportunity to build relationships with others in the church. Time is allowed during each Group for sharing, encouragement, and prayer.
What do I have to do to join a Spiritual Growth Group? Contact our church office for assistance in finding a group that is right for you.
Spiritual Growth Group Components The Bible - whether used for devotional reading, study, or discussion, has a place in every group meeting. You need not know the Bible to participate; you only need a desire to know the Bible.
Prayer - is a powerful dynamic of the group. Every group member participates, however, not every member prays aloud. We pray for “spiritual” as well as “physical” things.
Sharing - each member has the opportunity to share experiences, feelings, and information in a way that helps facilitate Biblical understanding, prayer, friendship, and personal growth.
Care Group Components Curriculum varies. Focus in these groups is more fellowship centered than in the study/support groups. Study/Support Groups Generally more focused around a curriculum, study groups may meet for a limited number of weeks. Study groups include:
●GriefShare, Chronic Illness & Pain Suport
●Crown Ministries, First Place
●Dynamic Marriage, Effective Parenting
